PERSONALIZED, UNHURRIED CARE

Our Skin Tag Removal Methods

We use safe and effective methods to remove skin tags with minimal discomfort.

Cryotherapy

This is the most common method. We use a small amount of liquid nitrogen to freeze the skin tag, causing it to fall off within a week or two.

Snipping or Shave Excision

For larger skin tags, we may numb the area and then remove the tag with surgical scissors or a blade. This provides immediate removal.

What to Expect During and After Removal

The procedure is very fast, often taking just a few minutes. For cryotherapy, you may feel a brief stinging sensation. For excision, the area is numbed first. Afterward, a small scab will form where the skin tag was. It is important to keep the area clean as it heals to prevent infection. The spot is typically unnoticeable once fully healed.

What causes skin tags?

The exact cause is unknown, but they are more common in areas where skin rubs against skin, such as the neck, armpits, and groin. They are also more common in people who are overweight or have diabetes.

The procedure involves minimal discomfort. Cryotherapy feels like a brief sting, and for excision, the area is numbed beforehand.

Since skin tags are benign and their removal is considered a cosmetic procedure, it is typically not covered by insurance. We offer an affordable self-pay price for the procedure.

Once a skin tag is removed, it will not grow back in the same spot. However, you may develop new skin tags in other areas over time.

We strongly advise against trying to remove a skin tag at home. This can lead to bleeding, infection, and scarring. It is safest to have it done by a medical professional in a sterile environment.
