Is an EKG test painful?

No, an EKG is completely painless and non-invasive. You may feel a slight cooling sensation from the electrodes, but there is no electrical shock involved.

The entire appointment for an EKG is very quick. The recording itself usually takes only a few minutes.

No special preparation is needed. It is helpful to wear loose-fitting, two-piece clothing to allow for easy access to your chest area.

Dr. Ibrahim will review your EKG results and discuss them with you, often during the same visit or shortly thereafter.

An EKG can help detect a variety of heart conditions, including irregular heart rhythms (arrhythmias), blocked arteries, heart damage, and heart failure.
